We are seeking a high-calibre underground mining leader to step into the role of Mining Operations Manager at MGO: Bluebird.



This opportunity will suit experienced contractor-side Operations or Project Managers, as well as proven underground leaders from a strong technical background who are ready to step into broader operational accountability.

Working a 4:3 roster or a 4:3 / 8:6 variant, and reporting to the Mining Manager, you will lead safety, production, and cost performance across a complex underground operation.



This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong delivery discipline, mature leadership capability, and the ability to execute at scale. You will set the benchmark for safety and operational excellence, develop high-performing teams, and play a pivotal role in delivering the site’s mining plans.


The Role

With accountability across safety, production, and operational performance, you will bring a results-driven mindset to a flagship underground operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting and leading best-practice safety standards across the underground operation
  • Delivering underground production targets and project ramp-ups at scale
  • Driving measurable operational improvement through disciplined execution
  • Maintaining strong cost control and operational efficiency
  • Managing workforce planning, including manning levels, rosters, and production forecasts
  • Leading and developing a team of leaders and their wider operational workforce
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver site plans and strategic objectives
  • Embedding organisational values and fostering a practical, high-performance culture

About You

We are seeking leaders who consistently deliver results and are ready to take on increased scope, influence, and accountability.

You may be:

  • An experienced Operations Manager or Project Manager, or
  • A proven Underground Manager / Superintendent with demonstrated readiness to step into a broader leadership role



You will bring:

  • Extensive underground mining experience (typically 10–15 years)
  • A people-centred leadership style, with a strong focus on developing others
  • Exposure to contractor delivery environments (highly regarded, though not essential)
  • Proven capability leading large underground teams and complex scopes of work
  • A strong track record of delivering improvements in production, cost, and safety performance
  • Sound knowledge of underground mining best practices
  • The credibility and presence to influence stakeholders and drive a positive site culture
